Bangladesh Election 2026: The Diplomat Predicts Tarique Rahman as Next Prime Minister

Dhaka | International Desk

US-based international affairs magazine The Diplomat has published an in-depth analysis on Bangladesh’s upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election scheduled for February 12, forecasting that BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman could emerge as the country’s next Prime Minister.
According to the analysis, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) appears to be in a comparatively stronger organizational position ahead of the polls. The report highlights growing public dissatisfaction, particularly among swing voters and the silent majority, as a key factor that may favor the opposition.
The Diplomat notes that economic pressures, concerns over political participation, and heightened international attention have turned this election into a potential turning point for Bangladesh’s political future, rather than a routine transfer of power.
The analysis further emphasizes that Tarique Rahman’s leadership has revitalized BNP’s political momentum, while the influence of expatriate politics could also play a decisive role in shaping voter sentiment.
As election day approaches, such projections are already sparking intense debate and discussion across Bangladesh’s political landscape.
