চট্টগ্রাম বন্দরের নিউ মুরিং টার্মিনালে DP World-এর চুক্তি বহাল, রিট খারিজ হাইকোর্ট

চট্টগ্রাম বন্দরের নিউ মুরিং কনটেইনার টার্মিনাল (NCT)-এ কনটেইনার হ্যান্ডলিং কার্যক্রম পরিচালনার জন্য সংযুক্ত আরব আমিরাতভিত্তিক প্রতিষ্ঠান DP World-কে চুক্তি দেওয়ার সরকারি সিদ্ধান্তকে চ্যালেঞ্জ করে দায়ের করা রিট আবেদন খারিজ করে দিয়েছেন হাইকোর্ট।
আজ দেওয়া রায়ে আদালত জানান, সরকারের নেওয়া সিদ্ধান্ত আইনবহির্ভূত নয় এবং এ বিষয়ে আদালতের হস্তক্ষেপের কোনো যুক্তিসংগত কারণ পাওয়া যায়নি। ফলে DP World-এর সঙ্গে চুক্তি কার্যকরের পথে আর কোনো আইনি বাধা রইল না।
এর আগে আবেদনকারীরা দাবি করেন, চুক্তি প্রদানের প্রক্রিয়ায় স্বচ্ছতা ও জাতীয় স্বার্থ উপেক্ষা করা হয়েছে। তবে রাষ্ট্রপক্ষের যুক্তি শুনে আদালত সরকারের অবস্থানকে আইনসম্মত বলে মত দেন।
বিশ্লেষকদের মতে, এই রায়ের ফলে চট্টগ্রাম বন্দরের কার্যক্রম আরও আধুনিক ও দক্ষ হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা তৈরি হলো, যা দেশের আমদানি-রপ্তানি বাণিজ্যে ইতিবাচক প্রভাব ফেলবে।

High Court Rejects Writ Against DP World Contract at Chattogram Port

The High Court on Sunday rejected a writ petition challenging the government’s decision to award a container handling contract at the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) of Chattogram Port to UAE-based global operator DP World.
In its verdict, the court observed that the government’s move was lawful and found no valid grounds for judicial intervention. As a result, the legal hurdle over the contract has been removed, allowing the deal to proceed.
The petitioners had earlier argued that the contract award lacked transparency and was against national interest. However, after hearing arguments from the state, the court upheld the legality of the government’s decision.
Experts believe the ruling will help enhance operational efficiency at Chattogram Port and strengthen Bangladesh’s trade and logistics capacity.
