রাজধানীর এভারকেয়ার হাসপাতালে বিএনপির স্থায়ী কমিটির সদস্য ও প্রধানমন্ত্রীর রাজনৈতিক উপদেষ্টা মির্জা আব্বাসের মস্তিষ্কে অস্ত্রোপচার সফলভাবে সম্পন্ন হয়েছে। শুক্রবার (১৩ মার্চ ২০২৬) বিকেলে চিকিৎসকদের একটি বিশেষজ্ঞ মেডিক্যাল বোর্ডের তত্ত্বাবধানে এই জটিল অপারেশন সম্পন্ন হয়।

বিএনপির স্বাস্থ্যবিষয়ক সম্পাদক ডা. রফিকুল ইসলাম জানান, সকালে সিটি স্ক্যানে অবস্থার অবনতি দেখা দিলে জরুরি ভিত্তিতে অপারেশনের সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়া হয়। বুধবার ইফতারের সময় হঠাৎ অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়লে তাকে বসুন্ধরার এভারকেয়ার হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়। প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসার পর সিঙ্গাপুর নেয়ার পরিকল্পনা ছিল, কিন্তু অবস্থার অবনতিতে দেশেই অপারেশন করা হয়।

ডা. রফিকুল ইসলাম আরও বলেন, “বিশেষজ্ঞ চিকিৎসকদের গঠিত বোর্ড সবকিছু পর্যালোচনা করে অপারেশনের সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়। বিকেল ৩টা ১০ মিনিটে তাকে অপারেশন থিয়েটারে নেয়া হয় এবং এখন অপারেশন শেষ হয়েছে।” দলীয় নেতা-কর্মী ও পরিবারের সদস্যরা মির্জা আব্বাসের দ্রুত আরোগ্য কামনা করে দেশবাসীর কাছে দোয়া চেয়েছেন।

Brain surgery on BNP Standing Committee member and Prime Minister’s political adviser Mirza Abbas has been successfully completed at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. The complex operation was carried out on Friday afternoon (March 13, 2026) under the supervision of a specialist medical board.

BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam confirmed that a CT scan in the morning revealed a deterioration in his condition, prompting an emergency decision for surgery. Abbas was admitted to the Bashundhara-based Evercare Hospital on Wednesday evening after suddenly falling ill during Iftar. Plans to shift him to Singapore were postponed due to the urgency.
