ঢাকা-১৮ আসনে জাতীয় নাগরিক পার্টি (এনসিপি) মনোনীত প্রার্থী আরিফুল ইসলাম আদিবের ওপর হামলার ঘটনায় তীব্র নিন্দা ও প্রতিবাদ জানিয়েছে বাংলাদেশ জামায়াতে ইসলামী।
সোমবার (২৬ জানুয়ারি) এক বিবৃতিতে জামায়াতে ইসলামীর সহকারী সেক্রেটারি জেনারেল ও কেন্দ্রীয় প্রচার ও মিডিয়া বিভাগের প্রধান অ্যাডভোকেট এহসানুল মাহবুব জুবায়ের এ নিন্দা প্রকাশ করেন।
বিবৃতিতে বলা হয়, সোমবার সকালে ঢাকা-১৮ আসনের খিলক্ষেত থানার ডুমনি নূরপাড়া এলাকায় ১১ দলীয় নির্বাচনী ঐক্য সমর্থিত এনসিপি প্রার্থী আরিফুল ইসলাম আদিব নেতাকর্মীদের সঙ্গে গণসংযোগে অংশ নেন। এ সময় বিএনপির নেতাকর্মীরা তাদের ওপর অতর্কিত হামলা চালায় বলে অভিযোগ করা হয়।
এই হামলায় এনসিপির একাধিক নেতাকর্মী আহত হয়েছেন। জামায়াতের পক্ষ থেকে এ ঘটনাকে রাজনৈতিক সন্ত্রাস হিসেবে আখ্যায়িত করে বলা হয়, নির্বাচনী পরিবেশ নষ্ট করতে পরিকল্পিতভাবে এ হামলা চালানো হয়েছে।
বিবৃতিতে হামলায় জড়িতদের দ্রুত চিহ্নিত করে আইনগত ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ এবং শান্তিপূর্ণ নির্বাচনী পরিবেশ নিশ্চিত করার জন্য সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষের প্রতি আহ্বান জানানো হয়।
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has strongly condemned the reported attack on National Citizen Party (NCP) candidate Ariful Islam Adib during an election campaign in Dhaka-18 constituency.
In a statement issued on Monday (January 26), Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Publicity and Media Department, Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, expressed deep concern over the incident.
According to the statement, the attack occurred in the Dumny Nurpara area under Khilkhet Police Station while NCP candidate Ariful Islam Adib was campaigning along with party activists. Jamaat alleged that leaders and activists of the BNP carried out the sudden attack.
Several NCP activists were reportedly injured in the incident. Jamaat described the attack as an act of political violence aimed at disrupting a peaceful election atmosphere.
The party urged the authorities to identify those responsible and take immediate legal action to ensure a fair and secure electoral environment.
