ঢাকা, ১৭ মার্চ ২০২৬: ইরান-ইসরায়েল যুদ্ধের তৃতীয় সপ্তাহে হরমুজ প্রণালী বন্ধ হয়ে যাওয়ায় বাংলাদেশে জ্বালানি সংকট তীব্র আকার ধারণ করেছে। ৯৫% জ্বালানি আমদানিনির্ভর দেশে এখন পেট্রোল-ডিজেলের দৈনিক সরবরাহ সীমিত করা হয়েছে। মোটরসাইকেলে ২ লিটার, প্রাইভেট কারে ১০ লিটার, বাস-ট্রাকে ৭০-২২০ লিটারের বেশি নেওয়া যাবে না।

Dhaka, March 17, 2026: As the Iran-Israel war enters its third week and the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked, Bangladesh is facing a severe fuel crisis. The country, which imports 95% of its energy, has now imposed daily fuel sale limits: 2 litres for motorcycles, 10 litres for private cars, and 70-220 litres for buses & trucks.
Long queues have formed at petrol stations across Dhaka and the country. Reports of arguments and tension are pouring in. The government has already closed universities, introduced 4-day work weeks for offices, and activated power-saving modes. Panic buying is worsening the stock situation.
The Energy Ministry stated, “If everyone saves energy, supplies will last till March.” But public anxiety is rising fast – prices are climbing, traffic is jammed, offices and classes are shut. Daily life is completely disrupted.
