আজ রায় ঘোষণার সময় আদালত বলেন, রাষ্ট্রীয় ক্ষমতার অপব্যবহার করে অবৈধভাবে প্লট গ্রহণ ও সুবিধা নেওয়ার সুস্পষ্ট প্রমাণ পাওয়া গেছে। এই মামলাকে বাংলাদেশের রাজনৈতিক ইতিহাসের অন্যতম আলোচিত দুর্নীতি মামলা হিসেবে বিবেচনা করা হচ্ছে।
দুদকের তদন্ত অনুযায়ী, রাজধানীর পূর্বাচল প্রকল্পে প্লট বরাদ্দের ক্ষেত্রে নীতিমালা লঙ্ঘন করে প্রভাবশালী ব্যক্তিদের অগ্রাধিকার দেওয়া হয়। আদালত রায়ে উল্লেখ করেন, আইনের ঊর্ধ্বে কেউ নয়—এ রায় ভবিষ্যতের জন্য একটি শক্ত বার্তা।
রায় ঘোষণার পর দেশজুড়ে রাজনৈতিক অঙ্গনে তীব্র প্রতিক্রিয়া দেখা দিয়েছে। বিশ্লেষকদের মতে, এই রায় বাংলাদেশের দুর্নীতিবিরোধী বিচারব্যবস্থায় একটি মাইলফলক হয়ে থাকবে।
